The music of legendary Italian romantic composer Giuseppe Verdi is well known worldwide. He was one of the most influential Italian operatic composers in the 19th century. Some of the Verdi's works have taken root in popular culture and songs such as 'La Donna e Mobile' 'Il Travatore' and 'La Traviala' are familiar to millions. No wonder that such masterpieces are fertile ground for new interpretations - even jazz. Franco Gotti - ace arranger/instrumentalist has assembled a superbly talented Octet which can be favorably compared with the classic Octets of Gerry Mulligan, Dave Brubeck, David Murray and Ornette Coleman. The result is simply stunning. Giuseppe Verdi as you never heard him.
