Candy is a nonbinary kid, who is just as special as everyone else. One day, they see a superhero wearing a cape, and they want one too. In A Cape For Candy, Candy goes on a journey to find the perfect cape and learns a valuable lesson in creativity along the way. A Cape For Candy introduces elementary-level children to a non-binary character in order to familiarize them with the concept early in life. Candy, the protagonist, uses they/them/their pronouns and identifies as non-binary, meaning they are neither a boy nor a girl. This concept simply exists within the book as Candy goes on a fun journey with their mom. It is also a great practice or introduction to non-binary pronouns for parents and children.
