Adele

The Roots of Adele

20 Soul-drenched tracks that inspired Adele’s bittersweet sound. Featuring Dinah Washington, Etta James, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Timi Yuro, Billie Holiday, Sam Cooke & many more... Everyone’s talking about Adele. That voice. Those songs that talk of heartache and love lost. Of trials and tribulations, of worry and doubt. Adele has something for everyone. Her eclectic list of influences includes such greats as Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Etta James, whilst the Motown sound is much in evidence, too, with powerful soul-drenched ballads by Mary Wells, The Supremes and Mabel John. This compilation presents a few of the artists which have inspired Adele’s timeless and universally-appealing woman-done-wrong songwriting style, and to whom the Grammy award-winning singer has also been favourably compared.
