My chapbook is titled Tree Sap because the book consists of 'sappy' love poems. In this book love is described in every form: heartbreak, self-love, shared love and received love from the understanding of an eighteen-year-old young woman who struggles with mental illness. This youthful perspective of what love is and what love means is interesting because she learns ultimately that everyone provides a different meaning and understanding shaped by their experiences. This is my experience and my understanding of what love is to me. Thank you.
