On Feeling Tessa Young

Feelings are what make us so human. I spent too many of my own years wishing I didn't have to feel, wishing emotions didn't hit me so hard; only to realize that they are responsible for making us who we are. The wide array of emotions that we are subjected to each day through our mental states and the environments we find ourselves in are constantly transforming us into who we perceive ourselves as in each occurring moment. I learned that feelings are fleeting: to let them come and go and to not hang onto each and every little thing; to allow fluidity into my life while accepting each emotion I find myself experiencing. I hope that through the lessons I learned and the various emotions I share presented in this book through poetry and prose, that you can come to terms with the value of emotion in your own life. I hope my words can help you begin to cultivate an acceptance and appreciation towards each and every up and down you may be experiencing in your everyday life with wide and open arms.
