Even as a child I was unusual, writing horror stories to help cope with the horror of life around me. Writing poetry was a form of therapy before I even knew what therapy was or that I would be in desperate need of it in order to untangle the trauma and mental illness I had been trying to manage alone for years. "Burn it down to the motherfucking ground" is what we would say when something went wrong. A lot of things went wrong over the past 30 years: battles with crippling depression and anxiety, cutting, suicide attempts, addiction, several abusive relationships, and bulimia. The poems contained within document my emotional journey while feeling out of control as my world fell apart over and over again.
