Elva's 16th birthday she got the day off. She lived with and worked for her Uncle David who took her in when her mother died in a fire when she was only 3. Elva has never been on a date but finds she enjoys her time with Detroit so much she asked her uncle to let her off so she can go again. For that he beats her so badly she ends up in the hospital with broken bones.
