Holy Mountain. The (Der Heilige Berg)

German silent film directed by Arnold Fanck and starring Leni Riefenstahl as a dancer named Diotima. Adventurer Karl (Luis Trenker) falls in love with Diotima as the pair share a love of nature and agree to be married. However, when Karl's best friend Vigo (Ernst Petersen) also becomes infatuated by her and Karl mistakenly witnesses Diotima's friendliness with reciprocation he challenges Vigo to a dangerous race across the Alps that places both of their lives in danger.
