Arriving in Veron, Rydin Kale aligns himself with the forces besieged within the royal castle. With all of Guitzi now held by the treasonous Cobian Tassoni, King Arvello is relieved to receive word that the Jennites are standing ready to name themselves his allies. Together with the knight Dego Salvi, Rydin begins his search for Callan and Tishan, who've now been missing several weeks. What he discovers is a plot more sinister than imagined, and one that threatens to bring the entire royal city to its doom.
