Advances in Diagnosis and Treatment of Ruminal Disorders of Bovines

The livestock play very important economic and socio-cultural roles for the well being of rural households, which include food supply, source of income, employment, soil fertility and livelihoods. In this context providing good health care to animals is utmost importantAn interpretation of many of the classical signs of ruminal dysfunction is possible by extrapolation from the results of research in rumen physiology. While the initial assessment of cattle and small ruminants presented for surgery of ruminal disorders can be more challenging because farm animals are often sicker than they appear to be. This workshop outlines how to identify and manage potential medical problems in large animal surgical patients, including practical fluid therapy, analgesia, sedation, anaesthesia and modern surgical techniques.
