Battle for Nakai

After recovering from a world disaster, the remaining two billion people on Earth returned to normal living, including the construction of several interstellar spacecraft. The intent was to begin colonizing acceptable worlds for the purpose of protecting the human race from extinction and for obtaining new assets to replace the rapidly depleting natural resources. Two ships were launched approximately two years apart. Both used appropriated alien technology in their engines to increase effective and apparent speed. The planned voyages would take many years to reach their goals even with the new engine types being used. The first ship, the New Dawn, suddenly went missing almost three years after they launched. All communication and telemetry with the New Dawn were suddenly, and without warning, cut off. Two years later, in January, 2046, a weak signal arrived from the New Dawn. The message was short and to the point. They were all alive and well, gave a warning to avoid Alpha Centauri, essentially for the same reasons recently discovered by the scientists on Earth. They were on course for a new, but unknown objective on the vector of their signal. Further attempts at contact were unsuccessful. Within months, the Inceptus launched on the same course as the signal was received, with the hopes that contact, as well as another sutiable planet, could be found. Sudden involvement with space junk was the cause of the New Dawn's silence and course change. As a result, alien contact was made and friendly cooperation was then established. Unfortunately, there were other aliens yet to be found that were intending to destroy all forms of space-faring life and they were coming in the New Dawn's direction!The Inceptus catches up with and lands where the New Dawn had finally set down.
